Have you ever experienced paying for something that you feel will put your life in danger and yet you still went ahead with it? I did and I can't forget the date: September 1, 2012.
I have this fear of heights ever since I was a kid. Believe me, all through out my life, I exerted so much effort to overcome the fear. With no success. So I gave up.
I've done parasailing in the past. My friends were like: Weh? did you really do that? Weren't you scared for your life? Don't you have fear of heights? Of course it's a yes to all of these.
If I relate this to my personal life, there's this fear of change and the fear of the unknown. What keeps my boat afloat though is that no matter how scared I am of the issues that I am facing with, the things that are yet to come but for sure will happen, I face it. Not with a brave face initially. But I know If I don't do it myself, who will? If I would need help, I better start doing something. It's like wanting to push a car that is blocking your way out but you don't get to it. You just watch it. So the car just stays there. Obviously, you remain stuck.
They say you control what happens in your life. To some extent, I agree because there are things that happen around you that are the result of what the people around you have done. It's the cause and effect. Of course you don't have control over that. But in your life, you're the one who is responsible how to live your life the meaningful way. It's your territory. Life is a gift so why not make the most out of it? And in situations where you're faced with whether you have to move forward or stay put, what will it be for you then? What will it cost to you if you just stand still and do nothing? The choice is yours.
Let me share with you a heart warming story. Two of my friends were amputees. They have their own stories to tell. I'm not writing about them to generate sympathy or pity. That's the last thing they need from us who has got two legs to stand on, to run and to use our legs for whatever purpose. I am sharing this because they are the epitome of courage in fighting whatever lemons thrown in their way. They know how to make lemonade and the way I feel & see through them, they're pretty awesome in doing it. I take them as my inspiration. Here's a couple of people who has limitations of missing a leg but that did not deter them in living their lives to the fullest. They drive, they climb up the stairs & even mountains and it wouldn't surprise you: they want to do ziplining! Like an adventurous person, they're game. Always ready. For me, they are so complete. Two beautiful souls having no fear on what's ahead of them. Whatever life has to offer, they said they've seen worst, they've gone through better days and they're inspired and full of hope. Wouldn't you feel proud of them? I am.
The Lord helps those who help themselves first. If you want something to be accomplished or be changed, make a move. He sees your efforts and what I learned in my life is that we have to face our fears. Doing one's best, doing what is right, it pays off in the end. You grow as person, you become stronger. You get help, yes. You get the reward and you get your answers. The answer may not be to your liking but for sure it is something that the Lord knows is best for you.
Do you think I will try doing bungee jumping in the near future? Hmn... it's not on my bucket list. But you'll never know. You see, parasailing and ziplining WERE not on my list to start with. But life throws me lemons at times. I'm hoping that in my own little way, no matter how scared I am, I will muster the courage to come up with my best tasting version of lemonade.
May we all be blessed!
